Yesterday marked my first 24 hour fast as recommended by Brad Pilon author of Eat Stop Eat & Craig Ballantyne of Turbulence Training to shred pounds.
I went completely food & calorie free except for what you’d find in a few cups of fresh unsweetened tea and my vitamins. The fast lasted from 6:45PM 3.10.09 – to – 7:45pm 3.11.09. It was seemingly 43 hours, since everything I ate yesterday only added up to 690 calories. My fish oil supp & one scoop of protein added up to 210 of those calories.
I’d never even considered “fasting” in the purest sense of the word before yesterday. I’d read about natives doing it to “pure their soles” or something when I was a little kid. I thought that was really hard core! I never figured I had it in me. “With my huge see-food appetite…” Yeah right!
I’ve stretched out meals over long periods before and just about found myself at the point of chewing my own arm off, but this was different. I was in a completely different state of mind. I felt great! I’ll admit, there were a few moments after I took big ol’ swigs of water that my stomach growled at me, but really it really wasn’t all that bad. I just kept my mind on other things. I also threw in 3 workouts.
I’m going to do another fast Friday-Saturday night if all goes as planned. I’ll be reading Eat Stop Eat all the way through, and writing a full review soon. I really feel this program has some great potential. As of right now, it’s on the recommended list.
